Stability Improvement of Onboard HVdc Grid and Engine Using an Advanced Power Generation Center for the More-Electric Aircraft

In the high-power settings of engine, such as maximum take-off, more power should be extracted from high-pressure spool (HPS) than low-pressure (LPS) to avoid overspeed and potential instability HPS. However, revealed in this paper, extracting HPS will degrade onboard HVDC grid stability for conventional single dc bus generation center. To address conflict, an advanced center (APGC) incorporating extra back-to-back (BTB) converter is introduced improve both engine grid. The BTB connects HP channel LP channel, providing additional flow path between channel. A transfer function-based impedance model a state-space are proposed study stability. analytical findings improvement using APGC architecture have been verified through simulation experimental results.
